Box head trees

If you feel I have posted this question in the wrong forum, please suggest which forum would be best, thanks!

Unfortunately my local nurseries(in Sweden) does not have a selection of box head pleached trees in my budget range. The only ones available are very large trees which is bought from abroad and they cost a small fortune.

I realize that I need to pleache them myself.

I would be very grateful if someone has some advice in this area. I have searched the web for instructions but only found nurseries selling the trees. I would love to buy a book with good step to step instructions but I do not know where to start when searching for one.

How many years should the tree be when you start the box head pleaching? The trees available to me are trees of different sized that are right now “pruned” to be ordinary trees. I’m assuming that it is best to start the box head pleaching on a young tree. It seems the youngest tree I can get hold of is 10-12 cc. Will that be ok? I’m planning on using Tilia x euro. 'Pallida'

Your advice is most welcome!
