Dry Australian Tree Fern?
in Talkback
I have had a tree fern in the garden for at least six years- without any problems at all, it is usually glorious.
However, this morning the fronds look as though they have been burnt. The new growth is brown although the stems coming out of the top of the plant are strong and green.
Is this just due to the unusually warm weather we are having?
I have now doused it with water, but it is looking very sorry for itself !!
Any suggestions please?

if you use the little tree icon , you can upload a photo, which would help.
Thanks
The second image was awaken on 24th September 14 when I made a start at painting the fence and the other one this morning !!
Please help as I would hate to lose it…
The cable at the base is not connected to anything - I am arranging to have some lights in the garden.
Many thanks
If I hadn't zoomed in on your picture and seen that you were using Cuprinol Fence Care, I'd have suspected the damage could have been caused by fumes from creosote-based fence paint.
However, Cuprinol is described as being safe for plants, so I can only think that you're correct in your suspicion that the dry weather is the cause of the damage.
