Leaky water butt

    Will it not come off then because you can buy those taps, we have put then on any old container.

    Brilliant Lyn image I've just found two replacement taps on amazon for a very reasonable price. You're such a star!!

  • Ptf tape is best run it the opposite was to the thread so it says in place and don't leak.



    Or use sealant just don't get it on the thread



    Try a rubber washer also they can be found on Amazon ebay ect

    I bought a new water butt recently and it leaked around the tap. It wasn't threaded in the hole properly

    I've got 4 water butts and I used clear bathroom sealant on all the taps when I fitted them. Had them couple of years now and they don't leak.

  • My mother in law had two nice barrel water butts that were beyond repair. I turned them into planters. It took about 10 minutes and they still look great. They have been planted up since. They are spray painted black and have a metal panel on the front.

  • Probably best to buy a new water butt. Some can be rubbish because they are made from thin plastic image

    If its any help ( Plumbers Mate ) is the one the trade uses. iv used it many times used sparingly it does the job.image
