pennypat, I'm completely addicted to Great British Bake off, but I don't have much of a sweet tooth (excluding marzipanimage) So I don't think I'll be making decorated cakes, but I find the techniques fascinatingimage

  • Aah, if you don't like eating it then definitely use what is sold as flower paste to model with you really won't want to eat it! If you want to try and decorate cakes without using a real cake you can buy "dummy" cakes from any good cake decorating shop.

im also a complete addict only I have a husband with a very sweet tooth but who also has coeliac disease so normal cakes are a big no no and trust me gluten free cakes aren't very nice!!!

  • How many folk are you trying to feed, that mi x doesn't make a very big cake, but if it's just a gesture then go for it.

Try looking on the bake off website for last years show Frances made an allotment cake you could copy. Good luck,

The mother of one of my fb friends made this for me for my Golden Jubilee Year in my garden.  It has the lot, flowers, veg, pond, beehive, butterflies, steps and paths and even a trug full of roses on the seat in the rose bower.
