Dividing Lupins
This question is aimed at Verdun really as Ive seen him mention it a few times
I divided one of my Lupins that seemed to have got pretty big.
What I didnt realise is that they have a tap root, I broke this apart into 3 sections, each with its own bit of root and potted them up.
They seem to be doing ok at the moment
Is this the right way to do it?

root cuttings normally aren't made with the tap root itself but with the new roots that branch from it-the mother plant also usually survives. but who can tell, gardening is a constant voyage of discovery. however. the best way to propagate lupins is in the spring from basal cuttings-same as delphiniums , poppies, foxgloves
Love your way of thinking Verdun, just go with the flow
