Talkback: Indian summer
in Talkback
I pruned my dwarf apple tree as suggested in GW but because of Indian Summer it has started to blossom! What to do? Surely they will be killed off in winter.

Nothing to do. I'm sure it will make some more in spring
In the sticks near Peterborough
My second year dwarf apple tree was hit by some sort of lurgy which affected the leaves, making them shrivel and drop off. Lo and behold the tree sprouted fresh new leaves as if it was the start of spring. It is a tip bearer so I am loath to prune it, even next spring, so I am just going to let it get on with things its own way.
pick off the flowers quickly, you don't want the tree to waste energy on flowering when it should be getting ready for winter, it'll effect flowering (and fruiting) next year
