Chilean Guava - help

Hello, I bought three chilean guava plants about a year ago. I planted one in a west-facing bed, and put the other two in pots against a sunny south-facing wall. The one in the bed didn't make any flowers this year, but the other two did, and they dried up on the plant and then fell off. Now their leaves are drying and turning yellowish. I noticed they were looking bad about two weeks ago and have made sure to keep them watered since then (I wasn't too regular about this before). The other one is still looking good, even if it didn't fruit at all. Does anyone know what might have gone wrong and if the two in pots can still be saved?

but I can't see a clue as to why Hogroasts plants are poorly, other than drought - it does say that established plants can cope with a little drought, but to me 'a little drought' is a contradiction in terms
