Winter and shade hanging baskets

hello,

I want to put a hanging basket up in the front porch. It is north facing and gets little sun.

i also want this to be there over winter.

Happy to plant veg, herbs or salads if they work in these conditions.

can anyone help suggesting what I can plant.

thanks,

marc

  • Mark, I agree with Patsy, and maybe use heather and violas as well

  • Thank you both. Very helpful.

Lots of hardy garden plants will be quite happy in your porch Marc. The cyclamen will enjoy shelter from the worst of the British winter and will be particularly happy with the planting Patsy has suggested. image

They won't need masses of watering as they won't dry out very quickly,  but hold a bucket underneath to avoid any wet slippers.... image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
