Bark splitting on newly planted Cupressus
I have a Golden Cupressus about 7ft tall-planted early summer and growing well BUT
from the top of the tree the bark is splitting down one side about 10" and opening a bit.The side shoots are healthy and the leading stem is ok.
Should I cut the top out below the split-assuming a side branch becomes the leader? Or just leave it alone or tape the split over.I am concerned that winter weather will make it worse! I have a second tree which is perfectly fine and a little taller. Suggestions welcome please
