Well things seem to have taken a turn for the worst unfortunately, the flowers have stopped forming and the green foliage is dying, can't imagine why. What a shame, I have been looking forward seeing the flowers. What has happened?
it might well spring back in Spring. Don't cut it back as the old leaves give some frost protection to the growth further down. Nothing to lose by leaving it alone.
Accacia isn't that hardy in the UK down to -5 is about all they can take but I've lost them at -3 so stopped growing them. With the cold weather we're having now and by the look of it, you'll lose it. It's a shame as they can be beautiful.
Dave is right, they can take -5C at best. I cover mine with fleece and it is in a sheltered spot, so is fine. If it is just wind damage (it may well be though I do not like the grey colour in the pic) then it will regrow.
Well as instructed I left things alone and to my surprise it has begun to grow again, although only at the bottom. Should I remove the dead top part?
I also want to move this tree to a sheltered part of the garden away from chilling winds we get in the winter and wonder what time of year it would be best to do so?
remove the dead part and if you want to move it give it a good soak first (and I mean almost drown it)
dig the hole that its going into first and fill it with water, then dig around the tree leaving as much roots on the rootball as possible, transplant with a little fresh compost mixed into the soil to go back in around the root ball. water in well then water every other day for a week and once a week afterwards until autumn. (more if it gets hot again)

They look like flower buds so I should think that's right

It's not the hardiest tree in the garden, it doesn't like cold winds
