My runner beans(scarlet emporer) have gone a bit too stringy now and not very nice to eat.. The earlier ones were lovely. Do I leave them to die off then plant the seeds for another plant next year?

Certainly Lulu, let the pods mature and go brown first, that's the best seed. My beans are still going strong, got a freezer full already.
I grew Prizewinner R-beans this year. Lovely long straight pods and they are still wonderfully tender and almost strong-free! I've always grown Scarlet Emporer in the past but I will stick to Prizewinner from now on. Mags
Thank you all!! I think I left the last lot too long before harvesting (lesson learned)
