Need some help with my blackcurrant plant

Hello,

I brought an blackcurrant plant about 3 years ago now from the garden centre and I just planted it in my fruit patch

A year ago I saw some flowers grow on a branch they soon deleloped into fruit but before i could harvest my first crop green flys and other aphids attacked the plant damaging all the leaves So I just cut off all the infected branches and all was fine after.. So I don't really know what to do with this plant becasue now there are just loads of growth but no fruit!

other info: I heard that you have to cut away some of the old growth but I never did this (I need some tips on how do it)
