Not sure what to do with early growers
in Plants
I have recently moved to a new house that came with a lovely greenhouse. For the first time, I decided to grow some plants from seeds but I'm now worried I started them too early.
I have a few trays of foxgloves and some rather large lupins, all of which have been grown since August. Do I leave them in pots to overwinter in the unheated greenhouse, or do I put them out in place and let them overwinter outside?
This is the pictures of their size:

Also, I planted a lot of Alium bulbs at the beginning of September and they are already bursting through! I think that these are Purple Sensation, will they overwinter OK?

I'm a beginner to growing anything from scratch, so forgive any silly questions!
Thanks!

Hi Matt, I'd get the foxgloves planted out but not the lupins

Yes, foxgloves are very hardy, but slugs love lupins so whether they are hardy or not I always find they get eaten. The alliums will be fine.
Those lupins grown like that since August!!
I dont think the top photo are foxgloves.
I would say that the alliums are not planted deep enough. Should be 5/6inches down, thats why they are up now.
I agree with Lyn, I think the top photo looks like wallflowers, and if they are, they can go outside now.
Thanks guys, I fear I may be a victim of my own lax (read non-existent) labeling system!
I have a packet of wallflower seeds but didn't think I'd sowed any, but it does add up!
These are also unlabelled and unknown, do any of these look like foxgloves? I may have also sowed delphinium seeds! Next time I promise I will label!
Is it worth digging the aliums up and replanting them? When I planted them, I dug the top 4-5" of soil up from the whole bed and then dug them in a bit. I wonder if I dug it less deep towards the edges as the Gladiator and Everest ones in the middle don't appear to be breaking out.
Once again, thanks for all the help.
Oh and the lupins may be beginning of August, I got rather over-excited at having a proper greenhouse and garden!
I'd agree - the top ones aren't foxgloves. Lots of bulbs started growth early last year too, as it was so mild through the winter, but they'll slow down as the weather changes and hopefully will be ok. Lyn's probably right that they've been planted a bit shallow. Perhaps you could carefully lift them and replant a bit deeper if there's not too many.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
There are about 15-20 Fairygirl but it gives me a job to do so I'll have a look next weekend, thanks!
Hi Matt the ones on the right are the foxgloves
What sort of alliums are they? The leaves look very long and narrow

Yeah I just Googled the pictures nutcutlet and it appears I mixed up my trays! I'll leave them in the pods for now.
I thought the alliums were purple sensation but having just dug one up (it was buried to 9cm, the back of the pack says 10cm so I wasn't far off but still probably not deep enough) they look more like the Spaerocephalon. It was a mixed pack of alliums from the garden centre and I planted lots of different varieties in the bed, with the Spaerocephalon and Purple Sensation around the edge.
