Romneya poppy

How do I control my rampant Romneya poppy ? The poppy throws up tough off shoots.

    I also have the Romenya poppy which has turned in to a bit of a thug! (see avatar).  I've decided that this year once it's finished flowering I'm going to try and dig out the roots where I don't want it, to trim it back.  Have you tried? Do you know what the roots are like?  As I said I'm waiting for it to finish before I start so don't know what to expect image
