Can I make a bee hotel in tree trunk?
I have an old conifer tree trunk and was wondering if I drilled holes in it would it be suitable for a bee hotel.

Thanks Pansyface, really helped. Will go ahead and try it.
Hello, I keep honey bees and we specifically use Western Red Cedar (a type of conifer) for our hives as the wood has slight insecticidal properties. So unless your conifer trunk is well seasoned I'm not sure it will work. Maybe gouge out a larger hole and fill with the relatively inert bamboo or dried plant stems.
