AKEBIA quinata
Hello
Please can anyone help? I have bought a lovely Akebia (chocolate vine) a few months ago which is speading well but its being eaten. I can't see anything on it. I have tried to upload a phote but can't do it, the bites look very clean if that makes sense
Any help would be so much appreciated.
Thankyou

Hello
I tried following the instructions, a box of the photo came up on my post, when I click on it it goes blue. Hopefully I've done it now
You had me worried there so I rushed out to check mine and can't see any damage like yours. Mind you it's a bit dark but I did use a torch. It's been in a couple of years now and flowered well this summer. Hope someone knows what that is so I can keep an eye out for whatever. I can think of quite a few things it isn't though
Hard to work out the size of the damage - can we have something to give a sense of scale..........
If they're as large as they look to me, then it could well be that they've been visited by the wonderful Leaf Cutter Bee.
If they're smaller than they look to me, then it could be that they've been munched by a vine weevil

I hope this helps
Many thanks
I think that looks like the work of the Leaf cutter bee - what do other people think?
I suppose one way to find out would be to watch - if it happens during daylight it's the bee - vineweevils do their damage under the cover of darkness

I will watch, if it is the leaf cutter bee, can I do anything about it? will it kill the plant?
or if its vineweevils can anything be done?
Thanks very much
