Should I risk it or not?

Hello,

I have a few Chrysanthemum's outside, all of which seemed to get Chrysanthemum White Rust which hasn't been helped by the weather we've had here recently.
After picking off all the affected leaves last week it did seem to help but there are signs of it re-appearing.

I have two different types but the one that I am wondering about is the variety 'Anastasia Green'. I bought these from Sarah Raven and it states in the growing instructions to bring them under cover into a GH at the end of September.
The problem is that seeing they have contracted White Rust would my other plants in the GH be okay or am I better off keeping them outside? I don't want to risk it spreading in the GH, I know that it is called 'Chrysanthemum White Rust' but I still worry it'l spread to my other plants lol

Any feedback is welcome image

  • I think i would keep them outside, there isnt any point infecting any of your other plants, im no expert by any stretch, so one of the others might be able to offer better advice image
  • I thought as much. Thanks.

There is a lot healthy growth on them, but there is signs of it coming back which is why I'm wary. Hopefully they'll be okay outside!

  • I do not grow Chrysanthemum now because the damp weather in the North East one foot in the North sea caused many viral problems. The best advice is destroy the plants, do not put them in the greenhouse, sprays did not work for me, I dislike them anyway. You could put them in a sheltered spot near a wall or fence and see what happens. As a lad we always had Chrysanthemums for Christmas time but we had a walled garden with its own micro climate, I do not have that luxury and would get rid of diseased plants at the first sign.

    Frank.

  • I wanted to try growing them as they were my late Grandma's favourite flowers, however I am also in the North East so it sounds like they're not the best plants for this area.
Il keep them outside and just see what happens image

I have some in a Raised Bed, will the soil be okay to use after they have finished? :/
