Bougainvillea

I have been given a lovely Bougainvillea plant as a present. It has been full of blossom  all summer. However I live in a coastal area in North West England so cannot plant it out in the garden. Our conservatory is south facing so would be too hot in summer and unheated in winter. I would like to keep it indoors as a house plant. Would it hurt the plant if I cut off all the new growth so that I keep it compact or should I be training it to grow up a trellis. Please advise!

You are right about it needing to be frost free in the winter, sorry can't advise on pruning. If no one here knows then you could look it up on the Royal Horticultural Society site (RHS). They may have some info about it.image
