Now that is a VERY GOOD idea Dove. We've just had a new kitchen fitted - all very white, sleek and modern - but a large wooden bowl filled with fruit would look fantastic & very organic - and it would be lovely to have it made from our own wood.
I think I will make some enquiries - I'm sure there are some wood turners close to me as I have seen their adverts. Thanks for the suggestion

Some wood-turners like to use green wood - it depends on the way they work. Some bowls made from green wood are more like sculptures - I've seen some amazing ones, with splits and knots forming part of the bowl.

There is one in a street market in Cambridge, but I think the wood has to be seasoned for about 7 years.
