Hi granny, do you mean a flowering plant? Pelargoniums will actually do quite well there, even though we think of them being sun lovers. I've had them overwintering and flowering in quite unlikely situations! You could also use plants which we think of as outdoor ones but are happy with a bit of shelter from the elements - Phormiums, for instance, would be fine and you could add some colour with houseplants, or the pelargoniums.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
both suggestions are ones I had not thought of - thanks! I have been looking around at some (lifelike) pretend plants also but would prefer the real thing. I think I may just try different ones - this winter - a sort of pilot study !
Peace lillies can look lovely in a large pot, and mine is in a very cool part of the house.
Regular misting though.
Maybe someone knows, but would a sarcococca work in a pot? They certainly don't mind cold, dry spots outdoors in my garden, totally in the shade. Lovely flowers in winter and berries to follow, but have never grown them on an I heated porch.
There are loads of plants that would do fine in such a place overwinter. Do you have any half-hardy garden plants that you could overwinter there? That owuld be my first thought.

Let us know how you get on
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
How big a plant are you looking for?

i have a peace lilly - will try that - and (never heard of) a sarcocca - but will investigate - thanks Jess
Sarcococca is Christmas box - an evergreen shrub. Don't know how happy they'd be undercover but might be worth trying.

You're welcome.
If sarcococca can be grown in a pot, then you have the most amazing smelling flowers over winger time.always a bonus!
