Digging up weeds

in Tools and techniques
Hey I have put weedkiller down on my allotment and the weeds have died now I am wondering what is the best way of getting them out of the ground is it get on my hands and knees and dig a section and pull out the roots etc if anyone has any ideas please let me know

    Should have mentioned it is also long grass as well which is all dead now it's the straw grass type

    Long grass might be hard digging, maybe cut down first, strim or mow

    OK thanks it was strummed and a few days later it was covered with weedkiller will try digging and pulling as I go along thanks again
