When do I plant Dutch Iris bulbs?

When is the right time to plant my newly purchased Dutch Iris bulbs? I checked online but I am confused by the info given. It said plant in early autumn or early spring ,but some of my bulbs are showing signs of sprouting so my instinct is to plant them now.

If they're shooting they should probably already be in. Bulbs come into the garden centres when it's time to plant them and these came into our local GC a while ago.

The Dutch iris thing confused me years ago, I couldn't seen to find out what they were exactly. They must have a species name. I still don't know.

    Plant them now

There are flag irises that grow from rhizomes

Dutch rises have longer stems and grow from bulbs

  • Thanks for the advice I'll get planting as soon as I can.
