Hi my Red Hot Pokers (Kniphofia Caulescens) were planted in mid April and have reached a really good size but have not produced the poker is this normal for the first year? I have never grown them before..

    They do seem to wait until year 2 to flower but it's not too late in the year for flowers to appear.  I have one clump where the buds are just beginning to show.

    They do take time to start flowering well, so don't worry at all.

    I have 2 kniphofia Red Rockets. I planted them last year. They did not flower last year and I haven't seen any buds on either one yet. Does this mean I'll have to wait another year for blooms?
