Pear Tree Diseased
Hi
My parents have an old pair tree (about 30+ years old) and over the last several years many of the fruits have simply rotted away before they ripen. This year its happened to about 40% of the fruits and so I though I'd ask on this forum if anyone would offer advice about what may be causing it and what if anything can be done.
I've added a few pictures to help diagnose the issue.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Perhaps you're leaving them on the tree for too long - pears don't ripen on the tree - they need to be picked while they are still quite firm, and then allowed to ripen. http://www.fruitexpert.co.uk/whentoharvestfruit.html
