White rhododendron

Thanks for your help. I have several slow growing white flowering rhododendrons. Recently I have noticed several fast growing branches with Pink flowers coming out of the base of the plants. I presume this is the dominant base plant that is trying to take over. How do I stop this happening?

    Very carefully remove the pink flowering branches at the point of origin, leaving no stump or they will regrow just as vigorously.
