What's wrong with my tree

My Laburnum flowered really poorly this year, and there were no show of leaves, except for a few small ones, that looked like they were just starting to show from bud.

I have just had to cut a few small branches off, as they died.

What is the cause of this, and will the tree recover for next year?

I have only had the tree in the ground for a year now, as it is a young tree and I had to move it from the front of the house, due to having to gravel my front garden over to make room for extra space for my daughters car.

  • It really doesn't sound very happy.  Has it had any proper leaves at all this summer?  If not I would presume it's dead.

  • It doesn't sound very happy, but I thought my laburnam was dead after getting rocked by the crazy winter winds. I have to cut all the branches off. It was a dead trunk until last month when it started showing life. So maybe leave it until next summer and see if it comes back. I was surprised mine is still trying to thrive.
