Can anyone tell me what this plant is? It has yellow flowers in summer. (Photos show it today, finished flowering).

Hypericum.  Lovely flowers but can be an invasive ground cover plant.

  • Thank you!

I pulled some up and was wondering if I could pot them up and give them away, as the roots seem to come up intact.

Yes Klunkit you should be able to pot some up as gifts as this plant is a survivor.

  • Wonderful! Thanks for the help image

This plant is also known sometimes by the common name of Rose of Sharon.

Lovely berries on them. I hate the colour of the flowers but I'd grow it for the berries if I could find something to hide the flowers during summer! The berries start off a pinky/orange and gradually turn black. image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • This plant has never had berries, just the flowers.
