Identifying a plant

Unfortunatly I don't have a picture. All I can say is it resembles a pitcher plant in a way. image

  • Calla lily?

  • No thats not the one. Its a plant you're unlikely to see at a garden centre.

    Arum maculatum ?

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Is it a wild plant?  If so, I'd be tempted to agree with Lyn.  Arum maculatum is known as wild arum, Lords-and-Ladies, Cuckoo pint and various other things.  Quite attractive leaves, a spike of insignificant flowers in a sheath (hence Cuckoo pint!), then the leaves die down and you're left with 6in spikes of orange-red, poisonous berries.  Try googling it.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Its not Arum. It doesn't have berries as far as I remember.

Liriodendron I don't know if its a wild plant. It comes in different colours. It was featured on gardeners world or Chelsea flower show a few months back too.

Arg.. wish I remembered more. image

  • Aresima - thats not the correct spelling, but it sounds like that. On the tv was there a green one Carol Klien was drooling over that had a sort of white bit which looked a little like a pearl?
