    Yes, the last of the trees to get denuded in Bristol this year are the oaks and the leaves are falling fast today from them as it is wet and windy.  But that only emphasises the bright red berries and leaves of the cotoneaster and my are they blazing out to all and sundry.  will post a picture later.

  • Normally the oak leaves stay on all winter but this year they are falling now. Maybe it's this year's weather conditions

  • Oaks lose their leaves in winter around here - only young oaks (like young beech) tend to keep their autumn leaves until late into the winter.


    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    White is also a colour and cylamen and heather come in white in my winter planter.  Here it is on 2nd of December unscathed by the recent rain and frost.

    For autumn flowers, Mahonia bealei takes some beating.  This is in my friend's garden today.05..12.12.
