Young fig tree

image

Hi gardening experts, could any of you advise what might be the problem with my young fig tree. The leaves gave turned yellow & brown in the last week/10 days. I had a mature tree in my last house & i don't remember the leaves looking like this

thank you

  • The leaves do turn yellow and drop if they're too dry - and they will of course turn yellow and fall in the autumn - and as Monty says, autumn's early this year.

I know you're going to, but I'd get those weeds cleared from around it sooner rather than later image

Did you water during the hot weather.?

  • Thank you both - I did water but probably not often as I should have. It's quite a shady spot & ground retains moisture. the weeds are actually acquilegia & are all over the garden (nightmare to control)

The leaves in the first pictures are buttercup!
  • Those ones look more like buttercups than aquilegia to me image

Aquilegia's foliage is usually much more fern-like.

  • Oh, why didn't I see your post until after I'd posted mine WO?  But at least we agree image
