what can I sow now.

as the title says what can i sow now iv'e some spare ground in my plot I don't want to grow cabage or broad bean ,i will put some over wintering onions in and springies just wondering if there's owt else ,the beetroot failed that i but in early august but that was down to the cold weather,

    Well - you've ruled out the usual ones; Monty says you can sow beetroot now for a young crop before winter - maybe carrots too therefore?

    ooh yes, garlic.  Overwintering onions too.  I used Red Electric (sets) last year and they were fine.  Harvest as needed in early/mid summer before the spring sets are ready.

  • Green manures and some salads. I sowed chard, perpetual spinach and pak choi recently. 

  • If it stays mild and you get sowing sharpish, you could still get a nice crop of turnips and khol rabi, good for stews image
