GWRS love the name; it sounds like a railway company
I have made Quince in the past, but no fruit this year, Gooseberry for the first time, Pear always seems to work well, Damson can be hard to clear; the covers are to stop the sun bleaching the wine which apparently affects the flavour
Anyone with a drinkable Tomato Wine recipe, (ie proven qualities), I'd welcome a PM from them in the near future - I & my assistant already have chutney, relish & Tomato sauces freshly made aplenty - and we're still being overrun by the beautifully-ripened, full-flavoured fruits of 2014's everlasting summer!! Help, please!!
Thanx, Artjak: I had considered making a direct approach to 1Runnybeak1 as a second round if my general call did not evoke any pms on the subject.
*My assistant/ co-conspiritor has been regaling me with various 'comments/ guidance/ pitfalls etc' from another forum: www.homebrewtalk.com - we will be harvesting and garnering (shopping for) key ingredients in the near future.....more news anon!
www.sipsmith.com/blog/articles/how-to-make-the-perfect-sloe-gin is a very good guide. I just bottled up last year's effort and started this year's batch today. I am currently engaged in some quality assurance testing which is going very well indeed .
DavidM, I used that link you posted, but all measurements are in old money; especially temperatures, I'm sort of geared to metric and centigrade these days.
Yes, Artjak: I realised that it was a site that used the 'old money' way of measurement - but hoped that the general principles & advice would be of benefit to a fair few peeps! [As a monoglot ex-English Midlander living in South West Wales for about 40 years, I'm in a constant state of bilingualism anyway]. I bought the 'shop' ingredients today, so the "Great Tomato Vendee" commences tomorrow! Wish us luck!!

GWRS, red wine goes a funny colour in the light
In the sticks near Peterborough
Best advice is - patience. What ever you use ferment to the end then rack in demijohn and then bottle. Enjoy.

David M, 1runnybeak1 mentions a tom wine recipe on previous page of this thread; perhaps pm him/her?
