Moss Problem

in Talkback
Hi Folks, I have just downsized from a large house with large garden to bungalow with a small lawn infected by quite an ingress of Moss both in the planted border and an over spill onto about a third of the grass. I have treated with Westland aftercare but no result with regard to the problem. The grass is lush green with no sign of weeds.
Should I dig it out and replace with fresh turf as this is the time of the year to relay turf.
Advice wlill be very gratefully received.
Yours aye
Ronnie

If you lay new turf the underlying problem that caused the moss will still be there ie drainage. I would aerate the lawn well this autumn and brush in some lawn sand. Then in the spring kill the moss with a moss killer and scarify. Repeat every year.........Last winter was a bad one for moss in lawns - it was so wet so anything we can do to improve the drainage is good.
