Thanks so much for your reply.. And Fairygirl for your help too! In that case I may speak to the company who laid this turf for me before I shell out on the nematodes for leather jackets (seeing as I've already bought the chafer grub stuff!).. Fingers crossed I can get it sorted.. Thank you both again for all your advice!
Hi Buddyboy.. I did wonder initially whether it was just fox pee that did it... But there are numerous little holes dotted around the turf so I figured they must be digging for something? Although we are generally overrun with foxes here so I wouldn't put it past them just to destroy my lovely new grass for fun...
That's interesting Dave. I'm quite high above sea level here, and daytime temps are often in single figures regularly by beginning of October. Normally well into single figures at night through September too, although this week has been warmer at night.
Suze has bought chafer grub nematodes - would she be able to exchange them do you think Dave or Bboy?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I'm assuming I probably can't exchange them seeing as they're a live product but I will ask them.. it was a knee-jerk purchase!
Is it possible that fox urine is the culprit? I thought perhaps not because it didn't have that characteristic clear burn area (I have a dog so I know what those look like!).. But like I said, I haven't seen any grubs or leatherjackets, just the damage..
