    Very true image

With round ones - nothing a big brick in the bottom can't sort ...image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Thank you. I have sooo much to learn, wish I could put it  down to youth!

Having looked around a bit at other bulb prices on line, even with the special offer, these were still ruinously expensive.

Fidgetbones what do you recommend doing with your bulbs after flowering? I always seem to disturb bulbs when I'm planting other things, should I be lifting them?

Most people leave them in situ Fiona. You can plant later flowering perennials in the same spot at the same time so that as the bulbs die back you have something else coming through which helps to hide the old bulb foliage. Geraniums, for instance, are a good stand by and will grow in most sites. I have sedums in the same spot as some of mine, ferns in others,  and also tiarellas and other low growing evergreens which the bulbs can push past quite easily.

If you don't want to do that it's best to mark them in some way - canes, a piece of mesh etc. image

  • Fb2 you must let them die down naturally to ensure they absorb all the goodness in the leaves back into the bulb, to give you a fighting chance of a repeat show the following year. When they are totally browned off, you can tidy them up. Takes about 6 weeks. If you leave one of the stalks showing you have a marker as to where they are.

    Alternatively take a photo?image

  • Has anybody used J Parkers wholesale online site? The prices seem very low - as I type this the phrase 'If it seems too good to be true, then it probably is'  is ringing in my head.

Sorry, I have just re-read the thread and spotted the various mentions of Parkers.
