Tiny White Flies on Purple Sprouting

I have these on my purple sprouting and my son has them on his indoor plants  in his flat and  they have eaten some of the curtain

White 'flies' on brassicas are usually (wait for it....) cabbage whitefly.  Or cabbage aphids, which seem to have more flying generations than the usual type.  I've never known them to eat curtains though!

Garlic/oil emulsion should get rid of most, then squash what's left and re-spray sometimes.  French marigolds (Tagetes) can prevent or at least reduce the attacks, especially indoors, but make sure you get the ones with the smelly leaves.

Could I spray them with diluted washing up liquid or does it have to be as you suggest

Diluted washing-up liquid (preferably Ecover which doesn't harm other stuff) is fine - but garlic spray seems to be the cure of the moment and may be better.  Don't know what's in Bug Clear but I suspect it's poisonous - I wouldn't want it on my food
