dog rosehips collecting

In a bush I have a rather lovely dog rose climbing it's way through it, it's since finishe flowering and has started dropping rose hips all over the ground. Are these suitable to collect seed from or will I need to try and take a cutting as I'd like to take it with us when we move... I have precisely no experience with roses!
the rose hips that have fallen to the ground aren't dried out, they're still squishy, but there's still plenty on the bush!

Hi SP, yes they grow easily from seed. They must be ripe if they're falling off so take some with you and sow when you arrive at the new place.
