Hi folks
having a ramble around the garden and spotted that my holly is not a holly anymore! There is more smooth leaves than spikey ones. It is not a bought one, it was here in the ditch when we bought the site. will I cut off all the branches with smooth leaves or will they go spikey.

Once the leaves are above the height of any leaf eating mammals such as deer they don't need to produce spikey leaves anymore
Some varieties of holly have smooth edges anyway. Don't cut the branches for that, cut the bush to keep it the shape you want.
holly trees only have prickles on the lower leaves to stop cattle eating it and soft leaves on top .
