Yes, that bit was just on now. He's just sown Autumn King ones. That's what ours are, so will be interesting to see how he gets on with those. Ours are in the ground and in containers.

If you have any seeds left you could sow some more now, to provide a later crop.

Carrots sometimes do better in containers, if the soil is compacted or heavy. You'll see which works best for you.

@Insomnia1973 I am currently trying to take cuttings from a decorative vine, if I am succesfull I can put your name on one for next year?

  • Cost of charging up my bike is a lot cheaper than driving the car out to the garden centre and i know all the short cuts. Went out there on friday morning and stocked up with seeds for the time being.

I had to pull out a grape vine I'd put in the garden before we got our dog, as grapes are very poisonous to them. Just in case others don't know.

May I ask you about your bike Maud? I'm wondering whether to look into converting my bike to an electric one (you can get them converted), as it's much hillier here than I realised until I bought a bike!  It's put me off using it at all really. How much help is an electric bike? I think it would have to make it considerably easier to get me into cycling.

Wow Lokelani, I never knew that! I haven't got a dog, but still useful to know.

Gary, no seeds left. They were victim to Jess's butter fingers!

joslow, that would be great! Thankyou! image

Lots of people don't know Insomnia, I'll bet lots get given a bit of mince pie at Christmas with raisins in. Onions are less known too, although most people now know chocolate can be dangerous for them. I grew up with dogs & am still learning!

Off to water greenhouse, everything collapsed yesterday in the unaccustomed heat, until I watered it!

Yes, people probably wouldn't think of mince pies either. Oh my. I knew about the chocolate, but not onions.

Hope your greenhouse plants were ok today.

  • Lokelani. Didnt know you could convert an ordinary bike. I,ve had my bike about 6 years and his name is Alan. Dont know what i would do without it as i have serious back problems back and unable to pedal a normal bike. 1 charge will get me into town and back about 4 times, thats a 3 mile round trip. I go everywhere and know there is more of them i dont get so many funny looks still get a few comments though. A wonderful sense of freedom as i dont have to rely on the buses or ask other people for a lift. I have to pedal a little bit but then after that in zooming along, well about 15 miles a hour.
