Day Lilies leaves turning yellow, too soon?

It is mid summer and some of my day lilies leaves are turning yellow.  The blooms are done on these.  Is this normal life cycle or an indication they need fertilizer, iron or something. The yellowing and dying leaves are a bit unsightly.  I just cut those leaves out.  I am wondering if the leaves should stay nice and green till fall?

It's well after midsummer Pete. Some of mine are turning, especially the earlier flowerers and the ones on dry soil

  • Yes, mine are turning too. Autumn seems to be arriving early this year - the horse chestnuts in our village started turning in July!!

It feels very autumnal out there, especially first thing in the morning
