Ripening tomatoes and chillies

Hi, I have lots of green tomatoes and chillies on my plants. What's the best way to get nice ripe red ones? Should I leave them in the plants or pick them and pop them on a window sill? Thanks Jason

    It's only mid August, plenty of time for them to ripen on the plants. Only pick them when you are certain sure they won't ripen on the plants. Mid-September perhaps.

    It's down to temperatures, Jason. Optimum temps for toms to ripen is low-20sC+. Overnight temps should be factored in too. Lower the temp, the longer they will take. There comes a point where it will be consistently warmer inside than outside. That's when to take them inside.
