  • I know this sounds stupid.. But could you keep a fish in it?

I like the idea, it seems very easy but doesn't the water get very warm and then wouldn't it become a breeding place for mosquitos? My water butt which catches rain water has quite a good lid but when I open it in summer there are always some mossies in there, lots of dead ones too.

Need suggestions for water lilies for a bath exactly like this …how many to put in, where to buy them and which oxygenating plant is best?

Read the article on tin bath water gardens and found it really helpful. I made one my self but had no advise and now know how to make it better. Mine has yucky gunge all over it and I am about to clean it out and now know how to keep it better and even though its a small bath it has done well considering my lack of knowledge. Will be off to find the right compost for a start and water baskets and an aerating plant to sweeten up the water. Just need to find a good water garden supplier near me. Just glad I found this article If any one knows of a good water garden centre near Coventry  please let me know.

But how to best deal with mosquito larvae with standing water being a haven for them?

Hopefully an aquatic predator will take up residence at some point and help with the problem. image

    Hello Mo6,

one of the best i know is Blooms along the A45 going south, take the Dunchurch turn and go from there. Been a year or two since ive been in but they used to have just about everything. The down side ? you might well have to negotiate the toll bar road works, depending where you live, so take a drink and some lunch
