Nut, I'm so glad to hear you say that about spireas. I just don't get why people like them. II've lived in several houses and each has had a resident spirea. Each time it's been uninspiring. Boring leaves. Boring flowers that last two minutes before going over. Last winter GW mag has a section on how to prune so did exactly that on current resident spirea. Spirea leapt into life in spring..... And looked exactly the same by mid summer but smaller. I decided, it's not me, it's you dear spirea.
