I got into gardening thru my dad. he didn't give me a bit of the garden or anything, it was strictly his domain. I loved peas,and he would say I couldn't pick them as he'd just sprayed them.
it wasn't until recently I realised as he was an organic gardener, he only said that so I wouldn't keep pinching them..(my husband told me this)
so now I grow my own, mostly they get eaten when they're ready.and I tell my husband its a bad crop.again..hee hee
For goodness sake!!! I wasn't going to post again but I think it's about time certain people were just a little but mindful of other's situations. Forum members cannot and should not go preaching to others about how they should and should not live their lives, every person on this forum has their own problems / circumstances which they may not want they world to know about, so it is totally and utterly wrong for anyone to try and tell others what to do.
The OP was 'How did you get into gardening' and yet several posts relating to that have been ignored, obviously not interesting enough!
Oh, and by the way, my OH has a classic car, I won't brag on here as I don't need to, and he has just resigned from his job to follow his dream we are very much in love after 24 years and very happy in our home (it matters not where in the world it is as long as it's home)......assumptions are very , very dangerous!!!!

Smokin Donkey didn't mean to cause offense. Please can we leave it there and tell each other about what he asked in the first place - how we started gardening.

Well said OL!! The original question was 'how did you get into gardening'. If forum users needed a life-coach/counsellor/financial advisor then perhaps the thread title should have included a warning of such.

Pottering it's blip in the system. When this happens you have to change to basic editor to send PM's.
Top of the screen right hand side where your name is, scroll down to My settings, then to Forum settings and change from advanced to basic and save changes.
You won't have smileys but should be able to use PM's. Switch back for smileys or when forum is fixed
