mosquitos breeding in the rainwater butt

    I scoop some up every day and feed put them in the fish pond ;)

  • I like the fish idea but I be worry that I'd let the butt go dry. I'll go for oil.

    I don’t put a lid on my water butt because if it rains in the night( which it often does here in the north) it defeats the object of the water running off the gutter of my greenhouse and into the butt,  via a pipe.. I would have to dismantle the pipe( too much bother) to put the lid on. I’ll try the oil and see how it goes.

    @Fire. What's that mosquito stuff for ponds that you mentioned a while ago?

    Mosquito dunk or bits. Unfortunately I think they are only imported.

    Surely with a rainwater diverter set up, the OP can seal the butt with a lid and therefore have no/less mozzie problems.
