victoria plum tree HELP with MAGGOTS!!!
Hi there
I'm really hoping someone can help me to help my dad, he has a victoria plum tree aprox 20 years old, over the last few years every time the fruit is ready to harvest i have maggots in the fruit, the last 2 years ive had no fruit edible, ive sprayed the tree with a bug spray brought from a garden centre, cut it back but now am stuck with what to do to solve this issue.

Hi, cuggles
This will be the maggots of the plumb codling moth and sadly there isn't much that can be done to save this year's fruit....it's been quite a bad year for it, btw.
To help for next year's crop, spray with winter tar oil wash when the tree is totally dormant....say late December, this will kill eggs & larvae hiding in the nooks & crannies of the bark. Also wrap a grease-band around the trunk about 18" above the base.
