Trying to find old thread

Hi, I'm trying to find an old thread- maybe a few months ago.  Someone was given a plant and wondered what it was.  You identified it as summer bedding although can be a house plant.  I was pleased as I'd seen one unlabelled at a garden centre and really liked it but there was noone around to ask.  But being a silly Snoodle, I've forgotten already! Does it ring any bells?  Plant was small, green leaves and the prettiest tall thin fluffy dark pink flowers

Thanks!

Could the plant have been a celosia plumosa? Thjat might help if correct.

  • Yes! Brilliant!  Thanks Hogweed.  Will give it a go indoors.

  • Treated myself!  Lets see how this fella likes being a house plant. Any tips gratefully received!

i spotted that can get the seeds with mixed colours.  Not so mad on the other colours but thought if this one doesn't make it, I could grow some from seed and choose the nicest colour one for indoors, and use the rest as summer bedding.

how do I pronounce it?  Is the emphasis on the "cel" or the "o"?

  • My plant book says it's se-lo-se-a image

Glad you got one Snoodle, pretty colour.

  • Aw, thanks SG Lily.  I've never been much of a houseplant person.  I find they just gather dust and look awful because I don't look after them.  But there seems to be a stirring of houseplanting ness in me!  I wonder if it is a progression??  as I've got more into gardening I find myself admiring things I never even noticed before (is there such a thing as a gardener's eye??!!)

  • Leaves gone red!   Looks amazing.  Leave mix of bright green and red.  I suppose it's because the days are shortening.

Not a great picture as on ipad in artificial light....misses the brightness....but you get the idea...

It may have gone red because it needs a bigger pot.

  • Ooh really?  I've been meaning to pot it on since I bought it but haven't got round to it yet....image
