New hedge suffering

I planted a new purple beech hedge last autumn and it was looking great until the last couple of weeks ago when the leaves have started to go brown and brittle. It looks as if parts of it have been scorched! My garden has been very sodden. Any views on what might have happened? Is it likely to recover?

Beech doesn't like being sodden so it may just be struggling with all the wet. Not much you can do except wait and see and hope we get some dry weather soon - unless drainage is generally poor in that spot, in which case you'll need to improve it somehow.
