Sorbaria like tree

As a child we had a Sorbaria like tree with pink flowers. It was not astilibe as it definitely was tree like. any ideas?

What was sorbaria-like about it? The leaves or the flowers? and how big was it?
In the sticks near Peterborough
About 6 feet high. The flowers were pink, pink buds to begin with, then pink fluffy flowers. The leaves were fern like.
