Re swede growing Bekkie Hughes. I have found the best way of growing swedes is to start them in 3 inch pots of ordinary garden soil with multi purpose compost added, about 50/50. Sow no sooner than early May and should be ready to set out into garden soil proper early June after any lingering late frosts. I have used this method successfully for the past 10-12 years. Give it a go and I think you will be pleasantly supprised.
